HDMI plugs/cords/cables are available in 3 sizes. HDMI (full size) TYPE A, HDMI Mini TYPE C, HDMI Micro TYPE D. Usually, TYPE A is what is widely used for connecting android phones to the TV.

You will need to get a MicroUSB adapter, which will allow you to connect the HDMI to the phone. Since most Android phones do not have the HDMI output required to be connected to a phone. But luckily if you can get an HDMI to micro-USB cable, you can easily connect it to your phone without having to use the MicroUSB adapter.

You can get the MHL (Mobile High Definition Link) or the newer SlimPort. They somewhat look alike, and they’re the best MicroUSB adapters.

MHL and SlimPort support both video and audio, just like HDMI. They also have up to eight channels of surround sound available. Both have breakout boxes, which is a small dongle that connects your device to the TV. It converts the signal coming from your Android device to one compatible with HDMI (TV).

An advantage MHL has over SlimPort is that several TV manufacturers support HML. Check the back of your TV where the ports are, the HDMI port will most likely have the MHL logo above it.

The various TVs available nowadays supports different types of MHL and SlimPort. With three different versions available for both MHL and SlimPort, you will need to check the specifications of your TV before purchasing an adapter.

The adapters and HDMI cables you’ll need to use don’t cost that much.

Also, apart from the Chromecast device (mentioned in the first method), you can as well make use of other devices like Amazon Fire TV Stick, Roku Streaming Stick, Samsung Allshare Cast. …WD TV Live, Now TV Smart Box, Matchstick, Cheapcast, and so on.
